How to protect your computer

if we are accessing internet on our  computer then there is always a security threat to our computer. The immediate question that comes to our mind is how to protect our computer from these daily security threats. As per a online Security Expert there are three basic steps need to taken to ensure that computer is protected from security attacks and viruses. Lets see these three steps.

1) Firewall:- A firewall is a part of a computer system or network that is designed to block unauthorized access while permitting authorized communications. It is a device or set of devices which is configured to permit or deny computer applications based upon a set of rules and other criteria. So Its better if you install Firewall on your computer. These days some operating systems have built in Firewalls like Windows 7.  There are some add on firewalls which can be downloaded from the internet.

2) System Updates:- Its always advisable to use genuine ( License)  windows operating  system. Pirated version comes at cheap price but always have some limitations like you will not get daily updates. Daily updates from Microsoft site are important for keeping computer safe.


3) Antivirus:- Antivirus software is used to prevent, detect, and remove malware including computer viruses, Trojan horses, worms  Such programs may also prevent and remove adware, spyware and other forms of malware. There are so many antivirus softwares available in the market. Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, Bit Defender 2010 , Norton Internet Security and McAfee Internet Security 2010 are the most popular and leading antivirus softwares in the world.

How to increase Firefox browser's Speed


Firefox is an internet browser that is preferred by many web designers and internet savvy people because they all know that it is more secure, more friendly, and allows better customizations. Although Firefox is a very fast browser it can be better. In this article I will give you some good tips to make your Firefox preform better and faster and more secure.
Even if you are not familiar with the Firefox configuration you can make these changes very easily. If you want to you can write down the changes you made to make sure that you can revert back to what you had. Here you go!
  • Open your browser and type "about:config" in the top address bar, not the search, but the actual address bar. You will be prompted the "be careful", this is just Firefox's warning that you can do something bad to your browser but if you follow the instructions you should not have to worry about this.
  • In the filter address bar type the following: "network.dns.disableIPv6". If you have not made any modifications to your browser yet this setting should read "false" in the value column. Double click it to change it to "true".
  • In the filter address bar type the following: "network.http.pipelining". If you have not made any modifications to your browser yet this setting should read "false" in the value column. Double click it to change it to "true".
  • In the filter address bar type the following: "network.http.proxy.pipelining". If you have not made any modifications to your browser yet this setting should read "false" in the value column. Double click it to change it to "true".
  • In the filter address bar type the following: "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests". If you have not made any modifications to your browser yet this setting should read "4" in the value column. Change that value to "8".
  • You need to create a new integer now. To do this you need to right click > New > Integer. In the text box that comes up you need to type "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and hit the ok button. Next, enter a value of "0" and click the OK button.
  • You need to create a new Boolean now. To do this you need to right click > New > Boolean. In the text box that comes up you need to type "config.trim_on_minimize" and hit the OK button. Next, select "true" and click the OK button.
  • In the filter address bar type the following: browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewer". Change that value to "0".
Now you are done with all the changes. Just close your browser and restart it. You will see the change in speed. Happy surfing!

How to Remove Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications

When you install windows XP on your computer, you may get Windows genuine advantage notifications pop up on your computer if you haven't passed the validation test. At times its become very frustrating. To stop these notifications, you can either validate Windows or remove the genuine advantage notifications program entirely. If you choose the latter, here's how to do so.

  • Go to My computer and click on tools and then " then "Folder Options," then "View". Click on the check beside "Hide extensions for known file types" to uncheck it.
  • Click on the "Start" button and then the "Run" icon. Type "regedit" without the quotation marks in the "Run" text field and click "OK." Your register editor program will now display. 
  • Navigate to the following registry file: My computer\HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify." You can find that key by first clicking on "My Computer," then "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE," then the "Software" folder, followed by the "Microsoft" folder, which brings you to the folder "Windows NT" then the "Current Version" folder, followed by "WinLogon" and finally the "Notify" folder.
  • Find the "WgaLogon" folder inside the "Notify" folder and right-click on it. Choose the "Delete" option and left-click on it. You have now removed the program files from the registry.
  • open the file C:\Windows\System32. Next, find and delete the file named wgatray.exe
  • Go to the file C:\Windows\dllcache. Again, find and delete the file wgatray.exe.
  • Now restart your Windows and you will never receive this Notification message in future.

Remove unwanted Ads From Facebook

Whenever I open my Facebook's front page I always see some advertisements in which I am not interested in.I decided I have had enough. I am tired of these irrelevant ADS! So I got rid of them. If you want to do the same, here are the steps!
  • Open your Firefox browser and go to: "https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748". (copy and paste it to your search bar)
  • Click on the green button that says "Add To Firefox".
  • Click the "install" button and follow the instructions to restart Firefox. (don't worry, your tabs should reopen as they where)
  • Go to "http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/13787" and click the green button on the upper right side that says "install".
  • Again, click "install" on the opened window, you shouldn't have to restart the browser.
  • Feel free to log on to your newly ad-free facebook account, Enjoy!
