Microsoft Word Banned By Texas Court

Its really shocking but true that a federal appeals court ordered Microsoft Corp. to stop selling its Word program in January and pay a Canadian software company $290 million for violating a patent, upholding the judgment of a lower court. But people looking to buy Word or Microsoft's Office package in the U.S. won't have to go without the software. Microsoft said Tuesday it expects that new versions of the product, with the computer code in question removed, will be ready for sale when the injunction begins on Jan. 11. Toronto-based i4i Inc. sued Microsoft in 2007, saying it owned the technology behind a tool in the popular word processing program. The technology in question gives Word users an improved way to edit XML, or code that tells the program how to interpret and display a document's contents.
A Texas jury found that Microsoft Word willfully infringed on the patent. Microsoft appealed that decision, but the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Tuesday upheld the lower court's damage award and the injunction against future sales of infringing copies of Word. Michel Vulpe, founder and co-inventor of i4i, said in a statement that the company is pleased with the decision, calling it "an important step in protecting the property rights of small inventors."
Microsoft said it has been preparing for such a judgment since August. Copies of Word and Office sold before Jan. 11 aren't affected by the court's decision. And Microsoft said it has "put the wheels in motion to remove this little-used feature" from versions of Word 2007 and Office 2007 that would be sold after that date.
"Beta" or test versions of Word 2010 and Office 2010, expected to be finalized next year, do not contain the offending code, the Microsoft spokesperson said.

It is a common mistake which we make to  say that The Great wall of China is visible from outer space. But the reality says it is too thin to be noticed from such a great distance. There are no man made structures that are visible from space or moon. Man made objects start to disappear after 300 miles up from the earth. From that distance you can barely see the outline of the Great China Wall. If we consider that distance from Earth to Moon is around 384,403 kilometers/238,857 miles then we can draw reasonable conclusion that it would be impossible to see any man-made structures from such a distance. Astronaut Alan Bean said: "The only thing you can see from the moon is a beautiful sphere, mostly white (clouds), some blue (ocean), patches of yellow (deserts), and every once in a while some green vegetation. No man-made object is visible on this scale. In fact, when first leaving earth's orbit and only a few thousand miles away, no man-made object is visible at that point either."

• Open your browser and type "about:config" in the top address bar, not the search, but the actual address bar. You will be prompted the "be careful", this is just Firefox's warning that you can do something bad to your browser but if you follow the instructions you should not have to worry about this.
• In the filter address bar type the following: "network.dns.disableIPv6". If you have not made any modifications to your browser yet this setting should read "false" in the value column. Double click it to change it to "true".
• In the filter address bar type the following: "network.http.pipelining". If you have not made any modifications to your browser yet this setting should read "false" in the value column. Double click it to change it to "true".
• In the filter address bar type the following: "network.http.proxy.pipelining". If you have not made any modifications to your browser yet this setting should read "false" in the value column. Double click it to change it to "true".
• In the filter address bar type the following: "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests". If you have not made any modifications to your browser yet this setting should read "4" in the value column. Change that value to "8".
• You need to create a new integer now. To do this you need to right click > New > Integer. In the text box that comes up you need to type "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and hit the ok button. Next, enter a value of "0" and click the OK button.
• You need to create a new Boolean now. To do this you need to right click > New > Boolean. In the text box that comes up you need to type "config.trim_on_minimize" and hit the OK button. Next, select "true" and click the OK button.
• In the filter address bar type the following: browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewer". Change that value to "0".

Now you are done with all the changes. Just close your browser and restart it. You will see the change in speed. Happy surfing!

How to Remove Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications

When you install windows XP on your computer, you may get Windows genuine advantage notifications pop up on your computer if you haven't passed the validation test. At times its become very frustrating. To stop these notifications, you can either validate Windows or remove the genuine advantage notifications program entirely. If you choose the latter, here's how to do so.

• Go to My computer and click on tools and then " then "Folder Options," then "View". Click on the check beside "Hide extensions for known file types" to uncheck it.
• Click on the "Start" button and then the "Run" icon. Type "regedit" without the quotation marks in the "Run" text field and click "OK." Your register editor program will now display. 
• Navigate to the following registry file: My computer\HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify." You can find that key by first clicking on "My Computer," then "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE," then the "Software" folder, followed by the "Microsoft" folder, which brings you to the folder "Windows NT" then the "Current Version" folder, followed by "WinLogon" and finally the "Notify" folder.
• Find the "WgaLogon" folder inside the "Notify" folder and right-click on it. Choose the "Delete" option and left-click on it. You have now removed the program files from the registry.
• open the file C:\Windows\System32. Next, find and delete the file named wgatray.exe
• Go to the file C:\Windows\dllcache. Again, find and delete the file wgatray.exe.
• Now restart your Windows and you will never receive this Notification message in future.

Who is Orkut?

A normal guy lost his lovely girlfriend in a train accident. But that girl's name nowhere appeared in the dead person's list. This guy grew up and became an IT professional in his early 20's. After initial couple of years, he started working with Google in 2002. Later he developed Orkut.com as his independent project and to find his lost girlfriend. He worked very hard to make it real and user friendly. This effort from this young dynamic engineer made orkut successful in no time and he also found his girlfriend .It was a time to shut down the search operation and this project , then the CEO of Google had a long discussion with this guy and took over this application. This Software made a whopping 1 billion dollars profit in its first year, which today we know as ORKUT- world popular social networking site. The guy's name is Orkut Büyükkökten. Yes you got it right, It's named after him only. 

Orkut Büyükkökten, born on Feb 6, 1975 in Konya, Turkey is a software engineer. He holds a BSC degree in computer Engineering and Information Science and later earned PH.D. in computer science from Stanford university. He is the man who created Orkut, the largest and biggest social networking site.Today he is paid a hefty sum by Google for the things we do like scrapping.
