" Zenda " sends a strong message to fanatical party workers

Avdhut Gupte's much awaited political thriller  &   controversial Marathi movie " Zenda "  is release on 8th January 2010 all over Maharastra. You may be a dedicated worker of any political party having blind faith in your leader, but when your leaders take you for granted, the day is not far when your conscience will not permit you to continue with them further.  Set on the backdrop of the situation that had arisen in Maharashtra, due to split in a regional party over the issue of their chief handing over the leadership to his own son. The director has tried to emphasize on the impact of  political crisis on the dedicated party workers. " Zenda" does not openly show the senior political leader and founder of the party in this film, but only his shivering hands holding the Rudraksha string, indicate his presence in few scenes. The entire screenplay tests the patience of three fanatical youths who are affected by the changing political scenario in the state politics with the change in stance by their leaders. On the other hand, how the fourth youth who is a shrewd consultant of an Event Management company benefits out of this political battle, has been cleverly shown through this film.
Director Avadhoot Gupte has tried to touch upon so many other relevant  issues covered by the story and screenplay writer Sachin Darekar. One of them is obviously the selfish attitude of the leaders, while playing the hand in glove game with opposition party leaders to protect each other’s interest.  Very clearly the film goes on to show how a Home minister of a ruling party is in touch with his opposition party leader to derive maximum benefits for him and his party. In the climax, the director has shown as to how the change in stance by their leaders at the last minute, make them lose their dedicated workers. And at the same time, it is shown as to who ultimately benefits.
" Zenda " is an action packed thriller based on a serious issue that ultimately affects today’s youth, but it is a more a serious tale rather than an entertaining film. It is altogether a different cinema showing the dark side of Maharashtra’s politics and how the local Maharashtrians ultimately suffer. Those who love to watch films on realistic subjects, will surely like " Zenda "  Besides good music, excellent photography at outdoor locations; the other plus points of the film are good editing and performances of the artistes, who look so natural.

Surprisingly, the film  has not received much opposition prior to its release, except for a delegation belonging to one upcoming party, lodging their protest over few scenes. It is very difficult to predict the success of this well presented film, but one thing is clear that Marathi cinema has taken up a bolder and sensible theme to create that required impact on the target audience affected by blind faith in their leaders.
Watch Santosh Juvekar as a fanatic party worker. His body language and spontaneous reactions speaks a lot about the dilemma of a serious party worker. On the other hand, Sidhharth Chandekar who plays his close friend and his own sister’s boy friend, has a different image of a well educated young man, who takes his decisions as per his conscience.  Chinmay Madlekar the young party worker from Kolhapur perfectly fits into his character of an educated youth who is very ambitious of making it big in Politics.
Among others in the cast Puskar Shotri and Rajesh Shringarpure fit perfectly into their respective characters, well supported by Tejashree Pradhan,Sachit Patil, Neha Joshi, Ujwala Jog and Shubhangi Gokhale.

Elevated expressway to connect Bangalore to electronic hub

A dedicated 10 km elevated expressway is being built from the Silicon hub of Bangalore to the electronics city to ferry thousands of IT professionals to their workplace in top gear non-stop. 'The drive along the elevated corridor and the six-lane highway on the ground will reduce travel time and save fuel costs by over 30 percent. A two-lane service road on both sides of the highway will cater to slow-moving vehicles, including tractors, carts and bicycles, with sidewalks (footpaths) and four underpasses for pedestrians,' Muniappa said.
The consortium will recover the project cost over a 20-year period by charging a fee of Rs.10 for two-wheelers, Rs.25 for cars, Rs.35 for mini-buses and Rs.70 for buses for the elevated expressway. Two-wheelers will, however, be exempt from toll for using the six-lane highway. Four-wheelers such as cars, mini buses and buses will have to pay Rs.15, Rs.25 and Rs.50, respectively. Trucks, earth moving equipment and heavy construction machinery will be charged Rs.105 for the highway and Rs.140 for the elevated expressway. As one of the busiest sections in the country, the 40 km Bangalore-Hosur stretch of NH-7 has been a nightmare for motorists and commuters as the dense vehicular traffic has been causing severe hardships, with delays, pollution and congestion compounding the situation.

5 Reasons why Internet Explorer must die

It is no secret that we don’t like Internet Explorer 6 (IE6), the outdated 10+ year old browser still used by 15-25% of people on the web. Last year, we called for IE6 to die so that the web could move on with new innovations such as HTML 5. Internet Explorer 6 is under fire again after a critical IE vulnerability was implicated for the attack on Google's infrastructure by Chinese hackers. Whether you work for a company that won’t get rid of IE6 or have parents that just don’t see the need to upgrade, here are five new reasons to upgrade or switch your browser.

  • World governments are suggesting you switch browsers:- Both Germany and France have issued warnings , asking citizens to switch to prevent the same type of breach that affected Google.
  • Even Microsoft wants you to drop IE6:- The Microsoft Research and development team specifically addressed the flaw and the risk of attack by platform. The most important part of the post was that they “recommend users of IE6 on Windows XP upgrade to a new version of Internet Explorer and/or enable DEP .
  • Your security and your company’s security are at risk:- There’s no other way to lay it out: if the security of Google, Yahoo, and around 20 other companies were compromised due to people still running IE6, then your security is at risk too. Upgrading after a hacker uses this exploit to steal your information is simply too late, especially if you hold sensitive customer data.
  • Not wanting to upgrade from Windows XP isn’t a legitimate excuse anymore:- One way to delete IE6 is to upgrade your OS — both Windows Vista and  windows 7 run upgraded versions of the IE browser.
  • This will not be the last massive IE6 security breach:- This flaw was unknown before Google’s groundbreaking China announcement. And it’s not the first flaw ever found with the browser — there are at least 143 vulnerabilities 22 of which are not yet patched. Would you use armor that had 143 weak spots?
Last week’s series of events drove home just how dangerous and idiotic it is to run the long-broken IE6 browser. It should be a wake-up call to IT departments and users around the world: if you keep running a browser from 2001, you are throwing your online security right out the window.

Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka

Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka is Indian reality television series, on NDTV imagine , based on the technique of past life regression , with participants ranging from celebrities to common people. The show is hosted by actor, Ravi Kishan, while the past life regression sessions are conducted by Mumbai-based psychologist Dr Trupti Jain.Apart from common people selected through phone-in, many celebrity have also been roped in by the channel, notably Sekhar Suman (already aired), Monica Bedi (December 14), Celina Jaitley and Nauman Sait.

The show opens with the guest explaining a particular problem, usually a fear he or she is facing and wishes to find a solution or insight into. Thereafter they are taken through an extended past life regression session, edited for television.

The procedure as explained by show's therapist, Dr. Tripti Jain, the patient are first taken into in a state of progressive relaxation, followed by an alpha-theta meditation through the visualization of light and then supposedly 'taken back' into the past to know the reason for things that trouble them in this birth. Some of the events are dramatized as the participant narrates certain incidents, and in the end talks about the experience.

Many of the participants have supposedly recalled information from the past. The best example is that of Swati Singh (Episode-1 participant) who correctly recalled information about the 1966 Air India flight 101 crash incident (24 January 1966), in which she claimed that she was an Indian sailor named Singh, and in this flight the eminent Indian physicist Dr. Homi J. Bhabha had also died.

Some people and organizations have raised doubts over the credibility and reality of the show. Much of the past-life regression process is also not shown on television, so it can't be confirmed whether the process is real or not. No explanation has been given by NDTV Imagine in this regard.

Bharat Jan Vigyan Jathan, an independent Indian organisation, has got issued a statutory notice by the Punjab and Haryana High Court to NDTV Imagine TV Channel (a copy of which was also issued to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry of India for allegedly spreading superstition through Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka. It also asked the channel for a public debate in the presence of experts and scientists and prove its credence scientifically.

The case is currently pending in the courts, and no mandate has yet been given.

The show had begun on 7 December 2009 and will end on 8 January 2010.

Technologies used in “Avatar” Movie

Writer & Director James Cameron is making another cinema history with the breathtaking new 3D Technology in his latest sensation "Avatar" which has swept the world with more surprises giving a new dimension to the world of cinema. Cameron developed this new technology that could finally revolutionize the film making by getting the 3D and the CGI to new heights while mixing the real footage and the motion-captured CGI in an immersive 3D technology. A brief review of the technologies used by the director that powered some of the most stunning effects of the movie is given below.

  • Digital Animation:- All the movie’s animations were rendered by Weta Digital, the digital-effects studio of Peter Jackson, and a huge team of the artists were constantly working for over a year to transfer the renderings to the photo-realistic images. Every minute detail was taken care of, by rendering every tree, leaf or even rock individually with the most innovative methods in rendering, lighting and shading that used over a petabyte (1000 terabytes) of hard disk storage.

  • Virtual Camera and Simul-Cam:- The latest inventions in the motion capture area are the Simul-Cam and the Virtual camera, which combined the best features of the 3D and the CGI technologies for Avatar. To build or develop his virtual world in a more enhanced way, Cameron captured the motion-capture results in real-time set up. The integration of the CGI based characters and the environments into one single Fusion eyepiece with the help of the Simul-Cam assisted the director to view and direct the CGI scenes like any other normal live action scenes. The virtual camera acted more as a virtual monitor that allowed the director to judge the overall effect of the final cut of the movie, and which was fed with CGI data by the supercomputers.

  •  Stereoscopic 3D Fusion Camera System:- This has been the most advanced of the technologies in recent times as Cameron’s undying obsession with 3D has resulted in the most advanced camera system ever designed, the new Fusion Camera System. It was specially used to bridge up the gaps between scenes and artistically formed an untraceable connectivity between the live action scenes and the computer generated scenes.

  • Performance Capture by CGI:- Cameron has used the Computer generated imagery (CGI) extensively in Avatar. Though he has already been using it since his earlier movies days like Terminator2: Judgment Day, and Total Recall, but in Avatar he specifically used a novel technique called “image-based facial performance capture” that required actors to wear some special head-gears already equipped with camera. As the actors performed, the camera transmitted facial movements that were put on the virtual characters. This made the movements of the body back to a connected array of systems which acted out their scenes on a ‘performance capture’ stage six times bigger than anything that was ever used earlier in the industry. This resulted in an amazingly emotional authenticity by the movie characters. The movie’s footage was built from around 70% CGI including its female lead.

With these technologies, Cameron has redefined the meaning of sci-fi cinema and Avatar being declared the biggest blockbuster of 2009 is surely a “must-watch” 3D movie.
