New Indian currency rupee symbol released

An Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) post graduate student D Udaya Kumar has designed a new Indian Rupee symbol.  It has been approved by Indian Government. D Uday Kumar the designer of symbol will be awarded by 2.5 lakh rupees. Almost 3000 designer participated in currency symbol competition.  The contestants were asked to design a symbol that would be hindi alphabet Ra with two lines to reflect and capture Indian ethos and culture. Now new currency symbol of Indian rupee will join the top quality club of global currency symbol like USA's Dollar, British Pound, Japan's Yen, Europe's Euro etc. But Indian government said that it will take another 6 months in India and another 2 years to be recognized globally by different nation's government.
